SABINO ST-STATUE " ISADORA" Sabino Art glass Opalescent Crystal. SABINO ART DCORATIF STATUE "ISADORA" *Within her dream of unfettered, wide ranging expressionism, Isadora said of the Art of Dance: " Standing on one foot poised on the highest point of the Rockies, her two hands streched out from the Atlantic to the Pacific, her fine head tossed to the sky, her forehead shining with a crown of a million stars" *Quote by Isadora Duncan ISADORA The very name provoked outrage, or admiration, accross the globe in the first years of the 20th. Century. She danced her way accross the history of two continents, simultaneously shocking and stunning. She had been born Dora Angela Duncan, in San Francisco, in 1877. But, with little formal training, she became a pioneer of modern dance, rejecting the discipline of traditional ballet techniques and adopting a free flowing style of dance and costume. She was as infamous offstage as on, constantly embroiled in tempestuous and romantic love affairs from New York to Paris and Moscow. In 1921, she upset the political apple cart by fleeing the West to the Soviet Union to marry the young poet, Sergi Yesenin. Yesenin left her in 1923 and Isadora returned to Paris. The performance she gave in July, 1927, would be her last. Holidaying in Nice, in september of that year, the tempestuous dancer was strangled when one of her trademark flowing scarves flew into the wheel of her speeding sports car. 9.50" x 6.50 " - 24cm. x 17cm.
